ARBURG Plastic Freeforming – The Power of Real Materials

One advantage of Arburg Plastic Freeforming (APF) is the freedom it offers in terms of materials: the open system processes qualified plastic granulates of the same type as those used in injection moulding. It is possible to specifically influence the part properties. The APF process makes it possible to change the filling level of the component in a targeted manner. In the case of TPE, for example, this results in different Shore hardnesses. Different material densities and structures can also be realised within a part. These TPE components are used for instance, in lightweight construction, filter elements and for capacitive functions. Soft materials such as FDA-approved original TPE-S / SEBS Medalist MD 12130H (38 Shore A), can currently only be processed using the APF process. Functional parts are manufactured in a single step – with no additional assembly effort required. Thus, the freeformer is particularly well suited for customer-specific original materials, especially in medical applications such as pre-series parts, functional spare parts, individually manufactured consumer goods, assembly tools and other equipment.
