Requirements on feedstocks for metal and ceramic parts
Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) is one of the most commonly used polymer-based additive manufacturing techniques and also can be used to produce green parts out of which after debinding and sintering a full metal or ceramic part is obtained. Therefore, a feedstock must fulfil a range of partly contradicting characteristics, e.g. flexibility (for spooling of the filaments) and strength (to enable the filament to act as a piston for printing) at the same time. The required properties of feedstocks for filaments are discussed in relation to the production process and their composition.
